Last weekend, Chris, Phil and I sailed to Rotterdam on the P&O 'Pride of Hull' to see the Tour de France prologue. We enjoyed glorious sunshine and a fantastic breakfast of Moroccan omelets before exploring the local markets and the famous Cube houses designed by architect Piet Blom in the 1980's.
We managed to get a great spot (on the Willem bridge on a tight bend) and patiently waited for the riders after the caravan had past, where we managed to obtain a lot of free stuff (crap) with sponsored names emblazoned on them.
Just as the first rider set off so did the torrential rain; and yes, we got very wet. We saw the best rider of the day Tony Martin speed past and also the infamous Bradley Wiggins. Unfortunately as the time came for the big guns: Cantador, Armstrong, the Schleck brothers and Evans we had to set off back to the ferry for our return trip.
A great adventure was had by all.
