London - FTM, cheese and loafers

I have spent the past few days in London enjoying the capital city and the lovely (rainy) August weather.

Day 1:

Chris and I started the London trip eating out at 'Jamie's Italian' in Covent Garden.
Starter: Anti pasti meat platter, mozzarella with fresh basil pesto and wild boar salami.
Main: Flash steak with parma ham, lamb lollipops with fresh mint and roasted nuts, roasted chicken with tomatoes and peppers.
Yum Yum.

Day 2:

I had a busy Wednesday that involved a route around London planned with military precision.
Mission one was to track down some Paul Smith brown loafers, so I went to the Notting Hill Gate shop on Westbourne Park Road - No Loafers. During the walk from the tube I got soaking wet with a ferocious rain storm. I pottered around some of the retro and vintage shops on Portabello Road for a bit before setting off to Regents street to the Apple store.
Mission two was to buy 2 i-phones for Chris and I (Blackberry contracts are expiring at the end of August). The queue in the Apple store was so long (and 5 people wide) that the shop assistant estimated would take 2 hours to get to the tills to order the i-phones. I decided against it.
Mission three was to get a couple of things from Abercrombie and Fitch. Visually it's quite hard to find because there doesn't seem to be a shop sign on the outside of the building; just need to follow the smell of the A&F perfume and stacks of shoppers carrying the A&F bags. Again, I didn't find anything that I really liked and couldn't handle the scores of people in the shop.
Mission four was much more successful. I took the tube to London Bridge and walked to the FTM (Fashion and Textiles museum). It is a bright orange and pink building that was founded by the famous Zandra Rhodes. I saw the lovely 'Horrockeses Fashions' exhibition which had some amazing dresses and textile designs there.
I finished the day enjoying a meal with Chris at Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant near Shoreditch.
Starter: Mozzarella with fresh mint and chilli and 32 day aged cured beef with watercress.
Main: Steak with rocket and parmesan salad and char-grilled pork chop with slow roasted peppers and tomatoes.

Day 3:

A generally much more successful day all round. I started the day at the British Museum and had a look around at the fantastic stuff then walked to Covent Garden where Paul Smith came up with the goods and I managed to get the loafers - yeah. I had a great time at Neal's Yard cheese shop, sampling about 10 - 12 cheeses and settling for 4; 2 fab Goats cheeses, 1 cheddar and a lovely hard cheese.
After a brisk walk to King's Cross, there was a train to Leeds waiting at platform 6. Great timing.
